Washington State Supreme Court Justice 1999-2005
Justice of Washington's court of last resort, hearing criminal and civil matters including appeals as a matter of right and matters of discretionary review. Served as Chair of the Supreme Court's Judicial Education Committee; Pres. of the Washington Chapter of the American Judicature Society (2002-2004); Executive Committee of the Council on Public Legal Education. Recipient: William O. Douglas award, Washington State Trial Lawyers; Passing the Torch Award, Washington Women Lawyers; Women of Distinction, Puget Sound Business Journal.


King County Superior Court Judge 1983-1999
Appointed by Governor John Spellman in Aug. 1983 and elected in Sept.1983. General Jurisdiction judge hearing criminal and civil matters of unlimited jurisdiction. President, Washington Superior Court Judges Assn; Vice-Chair of the Board for Judicial Administration. Recipient: Judge of the Year Award, WSTLA; President's Award, WWL; Distinguished Service Award, Judicial Education Leadership Institute.

Prior service and recognition: Named "Chinese Man of the Year'" for efforts to help establish the Wing Luke Asian Museum (Past President). 2010: Carl Maxey Award, WSAJ (for leadership in diversity).
